Fresh food and Asian vibes: Tokyo meets JLT @ Wokyo!
Tried & Tested: Wokyo – Noodlemania in cluster J!
Sometimes, all you want is noodles. Oodles of noodles. A little while ago, the JLT Dining team craved some proper Japanese nosh, so we popped down to the Mohammed Ibrahim Tower in cluster J, where Tokyo meets Dubai in the shape of Wokyo.
Wokyo is a noodle bar with the mission to explore the great noodle tradition of the Far East. The restaurant is light and airy and has more than a slight feel of Japan, with quirky Japanese wall art and origami papers and instruction books on the tables.
The menu is easily navigable and straightforward. All you do is head to the wok area, chose your sauce, noodle/rice style, and protein (chicken, salmon, beef, prawns, tofu, or veggies) and any other healthy extras or sides that take your fancy. All the ingredients are thrown into the wok and cooked in front of you. A short while later, you’re presented with a steaming bowl of Japanese goodness. At Wokyo, you’re in charge and you can customize your wok bowls just the way you like, which also makes this noodle joint a great place for vegetarians or vegans. If you’re all wokked out, there’s also a selection of soups and some rather tempting side dishes. We chose the Panko Chicken and the Spring Rolls and both were fabulously yummy.
Wokyo also offers kids meals for just AED 20 and soft drinks are just AED 5. Overall, Wokyo is great value for money, fast, and fresh.
The restaurant has a fun vibe and the staff are all super friendly. We suggest you grab some friends, head down to Wokyo, and get noodled up. Don’t forget to try your hand at origami – it’s great fun (though we failed to get the snowman folded properly). Top tip from the JLT Dining team: Don't leave without trying the Berry Aisu Kurimu ice cream, it’s absolutely delicious!
Wokyo is open daily from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. and you’ll find them by the lake in cluster J, just next to the Bonnington and McGettigan’s.
