JLT Battle of the Chefs – The Pizza Edition: Meet the judges!
On Tuesday, 27th March 2018, Own Café in JLT will play host to JLT Dining’s first-ever Battle of the Chefs event. The #JLTBattleOfTheChefs series of events sees the neighbourhood’s over 200 independent restaurants compete in kitchen battles to determine the best of the best in varying categories. Next Tuesday’s event is all about pizza and seven restaurants have taken up the challenge: Pitfire Pizza, Wolf & Friends Lounge, Nais Italian Kitchen, Own Café, Mambo Pizza Gourmet, Rolando’s Pizzeria, and Tashir Pizza.
All participating restaurants will deliver two pizzas to the battle venue on Tuesday, where the pies will be uniformly plated and presented to a panel of expert judges:

The judges will blind taste all pizzas and judge each entry based on taste, presentation, texture, consistency, and quality of the toppings, before selecting the winning pizza. The winning restaurant will receive the JLT Dining JLT Battle of the Chefs trophy for “Best Pizza in JLT”.
The judging panel is headed by TheEmirEati, one of Dubai’s most widely read and followed food bloggers, who is joined by Tahir Shah (The Food Founder), Jason Moore (President of LocoFood Organic Farms and Lanjaron Arabia Distributors), Chris Dcosta (a JLT resident who answered our social media call for a community judge), and Rachel Steedman (a self-declared mermaid and pizza fiend).
