Lunch at the Irish JLT stalwart just got a lot more affordable.
Tried & Tested: New “Under 50” lunch menu at McGettigan’s JLT
McGettigan’s JLT, the popular Irish pub in cluster J next to the Bonnington, just launched a new “Under 50” lunch menu. All dishes on the menu cost less than AED 50 and you’ll get a water or soft drink with your lunch, too. Of course, we had to stop by to check out the new menu as soon as it had launched.
With its roots dating back to the mid 1960s, when the first McGettigan’s opened in Dublin, Ireland, McGettigan's JLT took Dubai’s expatriate community by storm when it opened its doors in 2010. The bar has a warm and welcoming feel to it and you can imagine that you are actually in Ireland. Modern in design, it’s still distinctively Irish. The main bar is complemented by a dining area and there’s also “The Baggot” – a backroom-style live music and function venue. Outdoors, there’s a huge beer-garden, which is where we found ourselves on a bright sunny day at the end of February.
The “Under 50” lunch menu is split up into easy to read sections; soups, salads, nibbles, handhelds, substance, pastas, and desserts. We were afraid that the new menu would not contain many of our old favourites, so we were happy to see that many of McGettigan’s signature dishes still feature on the new menu. You’ll their famous Fish & Chips and the Beef Chilli Nachos, plus a good selection of sandwiches and other dishes. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wings (AED 49), the California Club Wrap (AED 49), and the Mac & Cheese (AED 30, but we added roasted vegetables, which made it AED 40). Service was on point and the food was nicely presented. We decided to add a side of Sweet Potato Fries (AED 25), which very fabulously tasty. The other dishes tasted great, too. The lower prices clearly don’t mean smaller portions at McGettigan’s. The Sweet Potato Fries were large enough for 3 of us to share, while the California Wrap (which you can also get as a sandwich) and the Mac & Cheese were perfectly portioned, too. The Buffalo Wings portion was a little smaller, but the again it’s listed under “Nibbles” on the menu and not under “Handhelds” or “Substance”.

With a free soft drink for every meal ordered, good portions, and great tasting food, the new McGettigan’s JLT lunch menu is bound to be a winner.
McGettigan's is also the home of all things Irish sport and music-related, so keep an eye on their social media channels for upcoming events. The pub’s Friday Brunch is hugely popular, as is the all-day Full Irish Breakfast.
McGettigan’s JLT is open daily from 12 noon – 3 a.m.
